Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he briefed her on Operation Sindoor, India’s precision military response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The operation, conducted by the Indian Armed Forces, targeted and destroyed nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in a pre-dawn strike.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and briefed her about Operation Sindoor,” the official handle of Rashtrapati Bhavan posted on X.

The meeting comes as the government prepares to hold an all-party meeting on Thursday to update political leaders on the evolving security situation and India’s calibrated response to cross-border terrorism.

During a media briefing earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi outlined the objectives and execution of Operation Sindoor. Misri described the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives, as “marked with extreme barbarity,” noting that victims were shot at close range in front of their families to inflict maximum trauma.

He added that Indian intelligence agencies had credible inputs of more planned attacks, necessitating a measured and proportionate response.

“Our actions were responsible and focused solely on dismantling terror infrastructure. The operation was designed to deter future threats without escalating tensions,” Misri emphasized.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that the nine targeted terror sites were selected with care to avoid civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.

“Operation Sindoor was launched to deliver justice to the victims and their families. All targets were neutralized with precision,” she said.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi presented footage of the strikes, including those on camps linked to the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

India’s military action under Operation Sindoor represents one of its deepest cross-border strikes in decades and reaffirms the government’s commitment to ensuring national security and delivering justice to victims of terrorism.
